เพื่อเป็นการเพิ่มยอดการส่งออกของประเทศให้มากขึ้น โดยเฉพาะอุตสาหกรรมผลิตรถยนต์ ซึ่งเป็นอุตสาหกรรมที่สร้างการเติบโตหรือจีดีพีของภาคอุตสาหกรรมโดยรวมถึง 10% ได้มีการเสนอที่จะให้นายกรัฐมนตรีไปเจรจากับบริษัทแม่ผู้ผลิตรถยนต์ของญี่ปุ่นที่มีฐานการผลิตรถยนต์อยู่ในไทย ให้เพิ่มโควตาการส่งออกรถยนต์จากประเทศไทยส่งไปทั่วโลกให้เพิ่มขึ้นจากเดิม จากปีที่ผ่านมาไทยส่งออกรถยนต์ไปต่างประเทศในจำนวน 1.12 ล้านคัน จากจำนวนที่ผลิตได้ 1.88 ล้านคัน หากเจรจาสำเร็จก็จะช่วยให้ยอดการผลิตและส่งออกรถยนต์ในปีนี้เพิ่มขึ้น จากที่ประมาณการผลิตไว้ที่ 2.15 ล้านคันและเป็นปัจจัยหนึ่งที่จะช่วยให้จีดีพีของภาคอุตสาหกรรมปรับตัวสูงขึ้น จากที่คาดว่าจะขยายตัวอยู่ในระดับ 2-3% ก็จะปรับตัวสูงขึ้นอีก จากปีที่ผ่านมาขยายตัวต่ำมาก
