การแก้ไขปัญหาและดูแลเสถียรภาพด้านราคาได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพอาจขึ้นอยู่กับการกำหนดกรอบเป้าหมายเงินเฟ้อที่เหมาะสม
ประเทศไทยเริ่มใช้กรอบเป้าหมายอัตราเงินเฟ้อพื้นฐาน ตั้งแต่ปี2000 เฉลี่ยรายไตรมาสที่ร้อยละ 0 – 3.5 และต่อมาได้เปลี่ยนกรอบตัวเลขเป็นร้อยละ 0.5 – 3.0 ซึ่งส่งผลให้การเติบโตของเศรษฐกิจไทยในภาพรวมอยู่ในระดับที่น่าพอใจ และมีอัตราเงินเฟ้อที่ไม่ผันผวนมาก และอยู่ในระดับต่ำ
