Pro-Yingluck activists summoned for talks with military
Leaders of two pro-Shinawatra family groups in Khon Kaen province were summoned for talks with military officials after they staged activities supporting former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra.

Piyachai Nachai, a retired teacher and chairwoman of the Women's Group for the Development of 20 Northeastern Provinces, and Amporn Phosri, leader of the Rak Yingluck-Thaksin Group, met Col Somchai Kanpachai, chief-of-staff of the 23rd Army Circle, Pol Col Omsin Trarungruang, deputy chief of Khon Kaen police, and other security officials at Sripatcharin military camp on Tuesday.

Col Somchai said the two women were "invited" for talks to "fine-tune their attitudes" after they and some 20 members of the groups unfurled a 3x2-metre banner reading "Happy Birthday to Yingluck Shinawatra, June 21, 2015" at homemade rocket festival in tambon Khu Kham in Sam Sung district of Khon Kaen on Monday.

On Sunday, the two also led group members in a religious rite to mark Ms Yingluck's 48th birthday at Wat Jetiyaphum in Nam Phong district.

Col Somchai said the activities might be construed as political gatherings in violation of an order of the National Council for Peace and Order and incite political conflict in the region.

Mrs Piyachai said the groups only wanted to show their devotion to Ms Yingluck with no other intentions.
