เหตุการณ์ในอดีตครั้งเกิดมหาวาตภัยจากพายุโซนร้อนแฮเรียตเมื่อวันที่ 25 ตุลาคม 2505 ซึ่งทำให้ชาวแหลมตะลุมพุกสูญหายไปกว่า 1300คน นับเป็นที่ท่องเที่ยวที่ให้ทั้งบรรยากาศชายทะเล ชิมอาหารทะเลสดๆและร่วมย้อนอดีตกันในพื้นที่ที่เกิดเหตุการณ์จริง
ประวัติความเป็นมา : เดิมเป็นพื้นที่ที่มีน้ำจืดมีต้นไม้ชนิดหนึ่ง เรียกว่าต้นตะลุมพุก ต่อมามีการเปลี่ยนแปลงของสายน้ำ ทำให้มีการกัดเซาะพื้นดินเว้าแว่ง มีน้ำทะเลท่วมถึงทำให้ต้นตะลุมพุกตาย และเกิดการผุกร่อน ภาษาท้องถิ่นเรียกว่า "พุก" จึงเรียกชื่อติดปากกันมาว่า แหลมตะลุมพุก มาจนถึงปัจจุบัน
