วันพุธที่ 18 มกราคม 2527 พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวและสมเด็จพระนางเจ้าฯพระบรมราชินีนาถ พร้อมด้วยสมเด็จพระเทพรัตนราชสุดาฯสยามบรมราชกุมารี ทรงเสด็จพระราชดำเนินเยี่ยมนมัสการพระอาจารย์ไพบูลย์ สุมังคโล หัวหน้าสำนักสงฆ์อนาลโยเป็นการส่วนพระองค์ ในการเสด็จพระราชดำเนินครั้งนั้น ทรงสราญพระราชหฤทัยเป็นที่ยิ่ง ทรงสนทนาธรรมแล้วทรงเสวยพระกระยาหารค่ำ ณ ที่ประทับรับรองของสำนักสงฆ์อนาลโย ประทับอยู่ตั้งแต่เวลา 15.00 น. จนถึงเวลา 20.00 น. จึงเสด็จพระราชดำเนินกลับและได้ทรงมีพระราชดำริให้กรมชลประทาน จัดสร้างอ่างเก็บน้ำแม่ต๋อม และอ่างเก็บน้ำห้วยทับช้างเพื่อผันน้ำมาใช้บนสำนักสงฆ์ และจ่ายไปยังไร่นาของประชาชน จึงนับเป็นพระมหากรุณาธิคุณล้นเกล้าล้นกระหม่อมเป็นที่สุด
กระทรวงศึกษาธิการและมหาเถรสมาคม อนุญาตให้เป็นวัดโดยสมบูรณ์ตั้งแต่วันที่ 20 มกราคม 2530 และมีพระบรมราชโองการโปรดเกล้าฯ ให้วัดอนาลโย ได้รับพระราชทานวิสุงคามสีมา ประกาศ ณ วันที่ 18 มกราคม 2531 เมื่อวันที่ 10 เมษายน 2532 พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวฯ ทรงพระกรุณาโปรดเกล้าฯ ให้สมเด็จพระบรมโอรสสาธิราชฯ สบยามกุฏราชกุมาร เสด็จพระราชดำเนินแทนพระองค์ทรงประกอบพิธีบรรจุพระบรมสารีริกธาตุ ทรงตดลูกนิมิตอุโบสถและทรงเปิดวัดอนาลโยโดยใช้ระยะเวลาก่อสร้างสิ่งทั้งหมดรวม 6 ปี เศษ
