ด้วยจังหวัดสงขลาร่วมกับสมาคมวอลเลย์บอลแห่งประเทศไทย กำหนดจัดการแข่งขันวอลเลย์บอลชายหาด สมิหลา-ช้าง เอเชี่ยนบีช วิลเลย์บอลทัวร์ ครั้งที่ 16 ระหว่างวันที่ 14-16 เมษายน 2558 ณ หาดสมิหลา อำเภอเมืองสงขลา โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อเผยแพร่ประชาสัมพันธ์แหล่งท่องเที่ยวจังหวัดสงขลาให้นักท่องเที่ยวทั้งชาวไทยและชาวต่างประเทศ รู้จักแหล่งท่องเที่ยว และเดินทางเข้ามาท่องเที่ยวจังหวัดสงขลาเพิ่มมากขึ้น พร้อมทั้งกระตุ้นให้เยาวชนและประชาชนสนใจเลี่นกีฬา รวมทั้งสร้างความร่วมมือผนึกกำลังระหว่างภาครัฐและภาคเอกชน
