ประชาคมเศรษฐกิจอาเซียน(ASEAN Economic Community : AEC) มีเป้าหมายของการรวมกลุ่มเศรษฐกิจเป็นตลาดและฐานการผลิตเดียว (Single Market and Production Base) โดยให้มีการเคลื่อนย้ายสินค้า บริการ การลงทุนและแรงงานฝีมือ ภายในอาเซียนอย่างเสรีและการเคลื่อนย้ายเงินทุนที่เสรีมากขึ้นภายในปี พ.ศ.2558 ประชาคมเศรษฐกิจอาเซียนจึงเป็นประโยชน์ต่อประเทศไทยในการขยายการส่งออกและโอกาสทางการค้า และการบริการในสาขาที่ประเทศไทยมีความสามารถในการแข่งขันเช่น การท่องเที่ยว โรงแรมและภัตตาคารสุขภาพ ฯลฯ
