จากผลการศึกษาปัญหาและอุปสรรคในการพัฒนาทักษะการพูดภาษาอังกฤษของนักเรียนไทย พบว่า นักเรียนกลุ่มท่ีมีคะแนนสูงจะมีปัญหาด้านคำศัพท์ ส่วนความกังวลและความกลัวเป็นปัญหาสำคัญสำหรับ นักเรียนกลุ่มที่มีคะแนนต่ำโดยปัญหาส่วนใหญ่เกิด จากตัวนักเรียนเอง เช่น นักเรียนจะรู้สึกกังวลเมื่อต้อง พูดภาษาอังกฤษ เพราะคิดคำศัพท์ไม่ออก ทำให้นักเรียนขาด ความมั่นใจ และรู้สึกกลัวเมื่อต้องพูดภาษาอังกฤษ กลัวว่าผู้อื่นจะไม่เข้าใจในส่ิงที่ต้องการจะสื่อสารออกไป ซึ่งปัญหาดังกล่าวจะเกิดข้ึนกับนักเรียนท่ีมีคะแนนภาษาอังกฤษต่ำมากกว่า ส่วนนักเรียนที่มีคะแนนภาษาอังกฤษสูง อาจเนื่องมาจากความสามารถในการใช้ภาษา และความรู้ ด้านคำศัพท์และไวยากรณ์ท่ีไม่เพียงพอ ทำให้นักเรียนไม่สามารถพูดให้คนอื่นเข้าใจได้ เมื่อนักเรียนมีปัญหา ด้านการใช้ภาษา ทำให้นักเรียนเกิดความกังวล และ ขาดความมั่นใจที่จะสื่อสารเป็นภาษาอังกฤษส่งผลให้ภาษาอังกฤษของนักเรียนไทยไม่เกิดการพัฒนา
