ในปัจจุบันประเทศไทยกำลังประสบปัญหา PM 2.5 ซึ่งเป็นมลพิษทางอากาศขนาดเล็ก ที่เกิดจากการเผาขยะ ท่อไอเสียรถ และควันจากโรงงานอุตสาหกรรมต่างๆ ทางคณะผู้จัดทำได้ศึกษาวิธีการแปลรูปฟางข้าว และผักตบชวาเป็นกระดาษกรองเพื่อลดปัญหาฝุ่น PM 2.5
