โครงการพัฒนาภายใต้กรอบความร่วมมือ GMS ในปัจจุบันส่วนใหญ่เน้นการพัฒนาโครงสร้างพื้นฐาน เช่น ถนน ไฟฟ้า ประปา และสะพานข้ามแม่น้ำโขงตามแนวพื้นที่ระเบียงเศรษฐกิจที่สำคัญ 3 แนว คือ แนวเหนือ-ใต้ (North-South Economic Corridors), แนวตะวันออก-ตะวันตก (East-West Economic Corridor) และแนวใต้ (Southern Economic Corridor)
