ต่อมา สมเด็จพระเทพรัตนราชสุดาฯ สยามบรมราชกุมารี พระราชทานงบประมาณให้แก่มูลนิธิชัยพัฒนาดำเนินการก่อสร้างศาลขึ้น โดยมี นาวาอากาศเอก อาวุธ เงินชูกลิ่น อดีตอธิบดีกรมศิลปากร เป็นผู้ออกแบบ

เมื่อจัดสร้างแล้วเสร็จ มูลนิธิชัยพัฒนาได้ประสานกองพระราชพิธี สำนักพระราชวัง คำนวณฤกษ์ศุภมงคลการพิธีตั้งศาลตามฤกษ์ โดยมีพราหมณ์หลวงเป็นผู้ประกอบพิธีหลวง เมื่อวันศุกร์ที่ 29 ตุลาคม 2547 เวลา 10.09 น.

ตั้งแต่นั้นเรื่อยมา ศาลหลวงต้นไทร จึงเป็นที่เคารพสักการะของชาวลุ่มน้ำปากพนัง ทั้งยังเป็นอนุสรณ์แห่งพระมหากรุณาธิคุณของพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว อีกด้วย
