ในงานวันนั้นมีการพูดถึงการเตรียมพร้อมในหลายๆด้าน เพื่อจะเข้าสู่ประชาคมอาเซียน เรื่องหลักๆเลยก็มีเรื่องของภาษาและวัฒนธรรม ทั้งวัฒนธรรมการกิน การใช้ชีวิต การแต่งกาย และขนบธรรมเนียมของแต่ละประเทศ
อย่างแรกเลยคือเรื่องภาษา การที่ให้นักศึกษาได้เรียนภาษาอังกฤษนั้นเป็นเรื่องที่สำคัญมาก เพราะภาษาอังกฤษถือว่าเป็นภาษากลางที่จะใช่สื่อสารกันในอาเซียน ซึ่งเรามีปัญหาในเรื่องนี้มาก เพราะเราไม่ได้ใช้ภาษาอังกฤษเป็นภาษาหลักทำให้เราเสียเปรียบเป็นอย่างมาก และนักศึกษาบางคนไม่กล้าที่จะพูดภาษาอังกฤษ เพราะพูดออกไปแล้วมักจะโดนเพื่อนล้อหรือคนรอบข้างหัวเราะได้ เลยไม่มีใครกล้าที่จะพูด แต่ถ้าไม่ฝึกพูดภาษาอังกฤษ เราก็จะเสียเปรียบประเทศอื่นๆที่ใช้ภาษาอังกฤษได้ดี เช่น เวียดนาม สิงคโปร์ เป็นต้น อีกอย่างเราจะเสียเปรียบในการสมัครงาน ถ้าเราไม่สามารถใช้ภาษาอังกฤษได้ การที่จะเป็นคนที่ถูกเลือกนั้นมีโอกาสน้อยมาก นี้เป็นเหตุผลที่ว่าทำไมเราต้องเรียนภาษาอังกฤษ
ต่อมาคือเรื่องของวัฒนธรรม ในงานวันนั้นมีการแสดงวัฒนธรรมต่างๆมากมาย ซึ่งเป็นที่น่าสนใจมาก เพราะแต่ละประเทศก็มีวัฒนธรรมที่ดีงามเป็นของตัวเอง เราซึ่งเป็นหนึ่งในประเทศที่จะเข้าสู่ประชาคมอาเซียนก็ควรจะเรียนรู้ไว้ เพราะวัฒนธรรมเหล่านั้นอาจมีผลกับเราเมื่อเราไปเยือนประเทศต่างๆในอาเซียน
