เป็นครั้งที่ 4 ที่กรุงเทพมหานครได้รับรางวัล “ เมืองที่ดีที่สุดในโลก ” The World’s Best Award 2012 ด้วยคะแนนสูงสุด 89.87 จากนักท่องเที่ยวและผู้อ่าน “เทรเวล แอนด์ เลชเชอร์” ( Travel + Leisure) นิตยสารท่องเที่ยวยอดนิยมของสหรัฐอเมริกา จากที่เคยได้รับรางวัลนี้มาแล้วเมื่อปี 2551 ต่อมาในปี 2553 ปี 2554 และติดต่อกันมาในปี 2555 นี้ 3 ปีซ้อน ขณะเดียวกันกรุงเทพมหานคร ยังได้รับรางวัลเมืองอันดับ 1 ในเอเชียทุกปี ตั้งแต่ปี 2548-2551 และปี 2553-2555 อีกด้วย

ผู้ว่าราชการกรุงเทพมหานคร กล่าวว่า การได้รับรางวัลต่อเนื่องกัน 3 ปี ซ้อนของกรุงเทพมหานครในครั้งนี้ ทางนิตยสาร Travel & Leisure เจ้าของรางวัลยืนยันว่าถือเป็นปรากฏการณ์ที่ยังไม่เคยมีเมืองใดในโลกได้รับรางวัลนี้ติดต่อกันอย่างกรุงเทพฯ ซึ่งถือเป็นเกียรติของกรุงเทพมหานคร และในฐานะที่เป็นตัวแทนของพี่น้องชาวกรุงเทพมหานคร และชาวไทยทุกคน ขอนำความภาคภูมิใจ มาฝากพี่น้องชาวไทยอีกครั้งหนึ่ง โดยรางวัลนี้ถือเป็นผลงานร่วมกันของกรุงเทพมหานคร ภาครัฐ เอกชน และประชาชน
