อาเซียน หรือ Association of Southeast Asian Nations เป็นการรวมตัวของ ประเทศสมาชิกในเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ ปัจจุบันมีทั้งหมด 10 ประเทศด้วยกัน ได้แก่ ประเทศไทย ลาว กัมพูชา บรูไนดารุสซาลาม พม่า ฟิลิปปินส์ มาเลเซีย เวียดนาม สิงคโปร์ และอินโดนีเซีย โดยทั้ง 10 ประเทศ มีทั้งความคล้ายคลึงและ แตกต่างกันไป ทั้งด้านภาษา วัฒนธรรม และขนมธรรมเนียมประเพณีต่างๆ อาเซียนก่อตั้งอย่างเป็นทางการในพุทธศักราช 2546 มีแกนหลักในการจัดตั้งคือ ประเทศไทย มาเลเซีย และฟิลิปปินส์ การรวมตัวกันของประเทศสมาชิกในครั้งนี้ เป็นการรวมตัวกันเพื่อพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจ การเมือง การคมนาคม และประโยชน์ ด้านต่างๆอีกมากมาย เมื่อทุกประเทศมีความเป็นน้ำหนึ่งใจเดียวกัน ก็ทำให้ ประชาคมอาเซียนของพวกเราสามารถพัฒนาให้ก้าวหน้าได้อย่างเต็มภาคภูมิ ดังนั้นเราจึงเรียก วันที่ 8 สิงหาคมของทุกปี เป็นวันอาเซียนนั่นเองค่ะ
