งานประเพณี “ลากพระ ชักพระ หรือแห่พร

งานประเพณี “ลากพระ ชักพระ หรือแห่พระ” เป็นขนบธรรมเนียมประเพณีหนึ่งที่เป็นเอกลักษณ์ของท้องถิ่นภาคใต้ โดยกระทำในวันหลังออกพรรษา 1 วัน หรือวันแรม 1 ค่ำ เดือน 11 ซึ่งจังหวัดตรังก็ถือปฏิบัติสืบทอดมาอย่างยาวนาน และองค์การบริหารส่วนจังหวัดตรังได้ส่งเสริม และสนับสนุนประเพณีโบราณดังกล่าว โดยจัดเป็นงานประเพณีที่ยิ่งใหญ่ขึ้นเป็นประจำทุกปี เพื่ออนุรักษ์ ฟื้นฟู ถ่ายทอด สืบสาน และเผยแพร่ขนบธรรมเนียมประเพณีอันเป็นเอกลักษณ์ของท้องถิ่น
การลากพระ จะมีการอาราธนาพระพุทธรูป ซึ่งส่วนใหญ่เป็นพระพุทธรูปปางเสด็จจากดาวดึงส์ หรือปางอุ้มบาตร ขึ้นมาประดิษฐานบนบุษบก หรือเรือพระ โดยแต่ละวัดจะหาช่างฝีมือที่มีความชำนาญ ช่วยกันตกแต่งให้สวยงามเพื่อนำเข้าร่วมประกวดแข่งขัน ปัจจุบัน เรือพระได้มีการดัดแปลงเป็นรถ หรือล้อเลื่อนเพื่อความสะดวกในการชักลากมาตามถนนหนทาง แล้วนิมนต์พระภิกษุในวัดนั้นๆ ขึ้นนั่งประจำเรือพระ จากนั้นก็จะมีการลากเรือพระเดินทางไปตามสถานที่ต่างๆ เพื่อให้ชาวพุทธได้ออกมาร่วมกันทำบุญ และถวายต้ม โดยจะมีพุทธศาสนิกชน และศิษย์วัดเดินตามมาด้วย พร้อมกับบรรเลงเครื่องดนตรีประโคมไปตลอดทาง มีทั้งทับโพน กลอง ฆ้อง โหม่ง ฉิ่ง และฉาบ
นอกจากนั้น ยังเปิดโอกาสให้พุทธศาสนิกชน ประชาชน และนักท่องเที่ยว ได้เดินทางมาเที่ยวชมเรือพระ ซึ่งได้มีการตกแต่งประดับประดาด้วยแสง สี อย่างสวยงามตระการตา พร้อมกับการร่วมกันตักบาตรหน้าเรือพระ ด้วยความอิ่มบุญ อิ่มใจ พร้อมรับการประพรมน้ำพระพุทธมนต์เพื่อความเป็นสิริมงคลจากพระทุกวัด เพื่อความเป็นสิริมงคล และเป็นการสืบทอดพระพุทธศาสนาให้ยั่งยืน จนถือเป็นงานบุญประจำปีอันยิ่งใหญ่ของชาวตรังไปแล้ว
